Harvest has begun. The light has changed. Local menus feature squash in all it’s glorious forms.

Rows of Pinot

Like most north coast growers, it has been a busy and challenging growing season for us.  Late season rains and cool temperatures have created a season full of work, work and more work.  Just when we thought we were making progress, canopies, suckers and weeds would re-grow and pest pressure would rise yet again.  The hard work is finally starting to pay off now as the vineyards look great.  With moderate to low yields and minimal crop adjustments, the vineyard is relatively quiet while we wait for verasion and slowly inch closer to harvest.

Pinot Noir in Verasion

The pinot (as always) is leading the pack and is nearly finished with verasion.  In the meantime, we are working on projects throughout the ranch and beginning with initial preparations for harvest.  It’s hard to believe harvest is already in the horizon.
